This project by STU­DIO MHNA trans­forms a stone moun­tain house into a con­tem­po­rary fam­i­ly home, where archi­tec­tur­al her­itage and moder­ni­ty bold­ly inter­act. Both respect­ful and rad­i­cal, the work plays with con­trasts: con­crete exten­sions that assert our time, a slate roof that embraces the land­scape and win­dow frames that are accen­tu­at­ed by raw met­al. For Mai­son Albar – Le Vic­to­ria, Stu­dio MHNA has craft­ed an inte­ri­or like a poet­ic nar­ra­tive of the French Riv­iera, blend­ing her­itage and moder­ni­ty. Spaces are dressed in soft shades of white, ivory, and greige, enhanced by azure blues, with a play of light and pre­cious mate­ri­als: satin-fin­ished wood­work, pol­ished mar­ble, del­i­cate lac­quer, stone, and fine­ly worked tex­tiles. It took Stu­dio MHNA three years of intense work to trans­form this authen­tic Swiss farm­house into a bucol­ic refuge for aes­thetes who love art and beau­ti­ful vin­tage cars. The col­lec­tor’s spir­it is evi­dent in every room of this vast res­i­dence, with no con­ces­sions made to liv­ing com­fort or con­vivi­al­i­ty. The idea behind the con­cept designed by Stu­dio MHNA for Bre­teuil Immo­bili­er was to rein­force an exist­ing and spe­cif­ic image of the Real Estate busi­ness, to cre­ate a new iden­ti­ty and a warmer, yet con­tem­po­rary design. We had to move away from a style that was some­times too tra­di­tion­al to embody a world of dis­tinc­tive val­ues, while main­tain­ing the right bal­ance between insti­tu­tion­al and mod­ern image.
