Le Grand Hôtel Spa & Thalasso ^{★ ★ ★ ★ ★}

The ren­o­va­tion of the Grand Hôtel Spa & Tha­las­so in Saint-Jean-de-Luz marks the rebirth of an icon­ic des­ti­na­tion, recon­nect­ing with the spir­it of sea­side liv­ing that defines the char­ac­ter of the resort. The exist­ing archi­tec­ture has been pre­served and rein­ter­pret­ed through a con­tem­po­rary, ele­gant and under­stat­ed approach, with light serv­ing as a guid­ing thread through­out the project. The design also cel­e­brates its local roots, fea­tur­ing bespoke works cre­at­ed by artists from the region, which punc­tu­ate the spaces and firm­ly anchor the hotel with­in its sur­round­ings. A thought­ful inter­play of mate­ri­als, vol­umes and uses cre­ates an atmos­phere that is com­fort­able, refined and nat­u­ral­ly wel­com­ing. Con­ceived as a true retreat, the tha­las­sother­a­py cen­tre extends this expe­ri­ence by estab­lish­ing a direct dia­logue with the beach and the ocean. Nat­ur­al mate­ri­als, tones inspired by the sky and the sea, and sub­tle plays of reflec­tion and light cre­ate an almost ethe­re­al envi­ron­ment, con­ducive to dis­con­nect­ing from the out­side world. A project that brings togeth­er her­itage, light and con­tem­po­rary poet­ry to rein­vent the art of sea­side living.
