Villa dans les Pyrénées

Pyrénées, France

This project by STUDIO MHNA transforms a stone mountain house into a contemporary family home, where architectural heritage and modernity boldly interact. Both respectful and radical, the work plays with contrasts: concrete extensions that assert our time, a slate roof that embraces the landscape and window frames that are accentuated by raw metal. The interior displays a rich alchemy of materials, blending the raw with the sophisticated with a controlled elegance of contrasting minerality (natural slate and shimmering surfaces), warm contrasts (burnt wood and gilded bronze, sandblasted fir and polished marble) and sensual textures (deep wool, flamed metal and porcelain).
